Ben Affleck is over the moon his brother Casey has finally been nominated for a Golden Globe.
Casey is up for Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture – Drama at the 2017 ceremony for his role in Manchester by the Sea, competing against the likes of Denzel Washington for Fences and Andrew Garfield for Hacksaw Ridge.
Ben, 44, couldn’t hide his pride while talking to Entertainment Tonight, noting the recognition is a long time coming.
"I'm absolutely thrilled," Ben smiled. "I think he deserves it. He's deserved it for a long time. I casted him in my first movie I ever did, Good Will Hunting. What a talented actor he was, and I'm really glad he got the opportunity to showcase that."
Ben and his close friend Matt Damon wrote the screenplay for the famous 1997 movie in which they starred opposite the late Robin Williams, and it earned the pals an Oscar for their script along with a best supporting actor gong for Robin.
Argo actor Ben is busy promoting his latest project, Live by Night, a mob movie which he directs, stars in and serves as producer.
He describes it as a “throwback gangster” flick and it gave him the chance to work with stars such as Zoe Saldana, Scott Eastwood and Sienna Miller, along with another Oscar-winner.
"I had Leonardo DiCaprio to rely on as a producer," Ben added. "I know him pretty well. He's a very good guy. He's a friend of mine and a really smart guy and somebody who really understands a lot about movies."
As Christmas (25Dec16) gets closer Ben is looking forward to relaxing with his family, estranged wife Jennifer Garner and their three children, and revealed the troupe will be going on a big skiing trip along with Casey and Matt Damon’s clans.
