Ciara named Revlon's new celebrity ambassador

Ciara feels she was destined to become Revlon’s new celebrity spokeswoman.

The 30-year-old singer, model and actress is adding yet another string to her bow by becoming the beauty giant’s latest brand ambassador, following in the footsteps of stars such as Emma Stone and Halle Berry, who jointly represent its Professional hair care range. And the new role seems to be the perfect fit for Ciara, whose name actually derives from Revlon’s 1973 perfume.

“My dad bought her the fragrance - the Ciara fragrance by Revlon - from the commissary at the military base,” Ciara, whose father served in the military, told WWD. “They were in Texas, he bought her the fragrance and not only did he love this fragrance but the name also really resonated with her and she ditched all the other names and Ciara became my name.

“I think my mom was putting it into the universe. ‘Your name will be Ciara and one day you will have a Revlon campaign.’”

In return, Revlon chief marketing officer Benjamin Karsch believes the star is the perfect example of an “empowered” woman who follows her dreams. The brand will certainly benefit from her mass following, as Ciara brings with her almost 14 million fans on Instagram - which Benjamin hopes to utilize through her ambassador role.

“We will likely use both social influencers as well as broad brand ambassadors, but Ciara is someone who is really both,” he added. “By partnering with a celebrity like Ciara, who has such tremendous reach and visibility, we gain access to her fan base and specifically with Ciara on Instagram alone, she’s got more than 13 million followers.”

The Goodies singer acknowledges her responsibilities in her position of power, and promises to remain humble during her new journey, using social media as a platform to “make a difference”.
