Eddie Redmayne travels by London Underground

Eddie Redmayne was snapped taking public transport in London.

The star of box office smash Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them was pictured travelling by London Underground, as he went about his day in the capital.

In a picture obtained by British newspaper The Evening Standard the actor, who stars as magizoologist Newt Scamander in the big screen adaptation of J.K. Rowling's book, was snapped by a commuter who shared his carriage on the Bakerloo line.

The 34-year-old red carpet regular was seen relaxing with a newspaper, as he enjoyed his journey in the city.

"No one could quite believe it was him so no-one bothered him at all," a source told the Evening Standard. "Everyone was just getting on with their commute as normal. They just blended in like regular commuters."

Academy Award winner Eddie was born and raised in the British capital, and it's not that unusual for the star to opt for the convenience of travelling on the Tube (subway).

"He has lived in the city for years and is a proud Londoner. No amount of Oscars will change that," a close friend of the actor told the news outlet.

He's not the only big star who has been spotted on the Underground; Rihanna and former One Direction star Niall Horan have also used public transport to get around London.

Eddie has previously spoken about his affection for using the London Underground, explaining it is the perfect place to learn his lines.

"I’d be on the tube in London, imagining talking to this thing, and suddenly realise I’m being stared at," he told Time Out magazine.

The Theory of Everything star's intensive preparation has clearly paid off as Fantastic Beasts has topped the U.K. box office chart for a second weekend earning $11.11 million (£8.89 million).

The film has now taken $37.69 million (£30.15 million) in ticket sales since its 18 November (16) release.
