Gwyneth Paltrow feels "honored" her collaboration with Frederique Constant is charitable as well as stylish.
The Oscar-winning actress became the Charity Brand Ambassador for the luxury Swiss watch company earlier this year (16) and this week (beg31Oct16) promoted its new Horological Smartwatch in New York.
It’s more than just endorsing an accessory for Gwyneth though as she loves Frederique Constant’s philanthropic approach to production with its support for various causes, including her own favorite charity, DonorsChoose.org, which supports classroom projects.
“It is my first watch affiliation, and it is a great fit,” she told Haute Time. “The watches are really beautiful, well made, classics - all things I like.
“Even better, the brand’s consciousness and charitable component sets them apart and is an amazing differentiator for me, so it feels like an honor to do something with a brand that cares and wants to work with charities.”
The new product also monitors steps and Gwyneth loves how a fitness watch can look so good while being practical too. It has the tagline, ‘Move More for Charity’, and also measures activity and sleep.
Venturing into the world of timepieces isn't new for the 44-year-old star, but it seems her daughter Apple, 12, and 10-year-old son Moses may need more convincing to follow in their mother's footsteps
“With watches, I’ve been more into it lately,” she told Los Angeles Times. “In my 20s, I wore a watch all the time, and then with the smartphone, it goes away. (My kids) have a watch, they have an Apple Watch, but they don’t really wear it, to be honest. Once you’re in the habit of wearing a watch, it’s so comforting, and it’s so nice just to check the time like that.”
Recalling her first wrist piece Gwyneth recalled how she loved the plastic Swatch watches, asking for one each Christmas when she was a youngster.
