Jerry Seinfeld and wife Jessica team up with Ralph Lauren for fashionable charity drive

Jerry Seinfeld and his wife Jessica hosted a special charity shopping event on Wednesday (02Nov16) night at Ralph Lauren's flagship store in New York City.

Proceeds from the chic function, which was held at the fashion legend's Madison Avenue Mansions, will benefit the Seinfelds' philanthropic organization GOOD+.

“We have such a wonderful relationship with this company (Ralph Lauren), and Jerry with Ralph, that we wanted to bring our GOOD+ world to the store and get together again and celebrate a really wonderful year together,” Jessica smiled to Women's Wear Daily.

Funds generated on the night will be funneled into GOOD+'s father support initiative, which aims to eradicate poverty on the family level by giving embattled dads an opportunity to better their lives through charitable programs.

"We’ve been doing it quietly for a few years,” Jessica said of their fatherhood campaign. “It changes the financial stability of a family, and it helps to heal some relationships that have been broken over time.

“There are so many programs for moms — as there should be — but we felt that the father piece is just as important. I think there’s been a cultural trend of ‘expendable men,’ and I kind of feel the opposite, for obvious reasons.”

The event was a success for attendees, including Jessica, who was compelled to buy the black brocade suit Ralph Lauren loaned her for the night because it was just too fabulous not to have in her personal wardrobe.

“I’m going to just go pay for it because it’s so awesome,” she laughed. “I wouldn’t wear it all together but I think it looks pretty chic.”
