Soul man Lionel Richie's homestyle and decor collection is now on sale at the Beverly Hills store he used to dream about as a young man.
Fans can now purchase items from the Lionel Richie Home Collection after it went on sale at homestyle and jewelry store Geary's Beverly Hills on Wednesday night (19Oct16), and the Hello singer admits it's a dream come true to have something he has helped create on display at the famous store.
"I was the kid whose nose was pressed against the glass," Lionel told WWD.com at the launch party. "(I'd ask myself), 'Can you afford it? No. Do you have a reason to be here? No.'
"Now here we are years later. Instead of just passing by and knowing the value of it, on top of that, they actually want your stuff."
Lionel's collection features dinnerware, glassware, serving accessories and home decor items all inspired by the singer's jet-setting lifestyle.
"I travel the world and I find these things that I think are obviously common, but yet at the same time very regal," he said. "When I bring those patterns in and put them in plates and glasses and silverware I automatically bring people into my experience of traveling."
Lionel showed up late for the launch because he couldn't tear himself away from the final U.S. presidential debate between Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump, and told reporters upon his arrival at Geary's, "I was sitting there glued to the (TV) set thinking, 'What am I listening to? I want to get through this. I want to get it over with because it’s about to worry me to absolute death and thank God it will be over in just a minute'."
