Lucky Blue Smith isn’t intimidated by anybody.
The 18-year-old model is one of the hottest faces in fashion at the moment, landing spreads for the likes of Vogue and LOVE magazine and walking for brands including Fendi and Tom Ford. Having been signed at just 12 years old, Lucky has learnt not to feel daunted while working with big names in the industry.
“I remember they wanted me before I was 16,” he recalled to The Telegraph’s Times 2. “Like Hedi (Slimane, designer) wanted me to do his Saint Laurent show in Paris when I was 14 but you have to be older to do it there, I guess.
“I’ve never been intimidated by anybody. It’s weird. I love talking to older people. When I was 16, hanging out with 23-year-olds. It was cool.”
Lucky is now jetting around the globe thanks to his career, often holding meet-and-greets with fans. But nothing has prepared him for the attention he receives, especially from young women.
“It’s the weirdest feeling in the world when a thousand girls come into one place to see you. I don’t even know how to describe it,” he noted.
It’s not only his strong facial features that make girls weak at the knees; his fashion sense also sets him apart from other teenagers. Lucky describes his style as “modern retro”, favoring pieces such as a vintage Bob Dylan tour jacket from 1978 and Converse sneakers.
“When I was in seventh grade used to dress pure rockabilly but I’m more varied now,” he explained. “Then they put me in a tux, I’m always down for that.”
