Tory Burch is eyeing up a menswear capsule collection.
The American designer is known for her chic women’s offerings and sportwear lines, and produces shoes, bags and perfumes as well as her clothing collections.
While she’s previously hinted at launching menswear, Tory brought the subject up once again during a chat with Miles Socha, WWD’s executive editor, Europe, as part of a conversation at the WWD Global Fashion Forum.
“One day maybe men’s would be interesting,” she shared. “I think it’s funny because men are wearing our sport line, including my three boys... I don’t know if they’re my muses but they definitely said that they would love to have it and I think it would be interesting to do a capsule.”
Tory’s name has been synonymous with fashion since she launched her namesake label in 2004, with the brand getting an extra boost after Oprah Winfrey endorsed the line the following year.
Being at the forefront of technology has always been a key factor for Tory, especially when it comes to the e-commerce market.
“People told me that no one would ever buy online. That I was crazy to launch with one store,” she laughed. “Since then we’ve really embraced social media and it really has helped build up our company.”
However the company is lacking in its online offerings in Asia, a continent that has opened Tory Burch out to international markets.
“We know that e-commerce will be part of what we need to do in Asia but we are not there yet,” she admitted, adding her Asia plans also include more stores in the region.
