Zoe Kravitz is seeking to promote natural beauty with her latest campaign initiative.
The actress and singer, daughter of rocker Lenny Kravitz and actress Lisa Bonet, has teamed up with YSL Beauty, becoming the brand’s first beauty muse.
For her new role, Zoe has shot online tutorials on how to recreate some of her looks, and calls the partnership an honor and an “interesting collaboration”.
On the subject of beauty, Zoe admits that it doesn’t matter how much make-up you apply, real beauty starts inside.
“I believe beauty definitely starts from within, I think it starts with who you are on the inside,” she said in a video for YSL. “I think it’s really hard for someone who isn’t kind to be beautiful, and if they are I don’t think it last very long. And I think once you have that there are ways to elevate your beauty on an exterior level, and make-up is a really beautiful way to do that. “
Lolawolf frontwoman Zoe is also part of YSL’s Before the Light campaign, which focuses on the time before people present themselves to others.
Calling make-up her war paint, 27-year-old shares that she savors that time when she can zone in on herself and decide how she wants to be seen.
“We’ve found this fun, quirky way to show the process and the transition from going to everyday casual self, to the person you want to show to people.
“For me, being on tour, there’s always a lot of people around and people in the room and distractions, and then the reality always sets in that I’m about to go on stage, and it’s a very vulnerable thing to do and I always get nervous how many times I do it. And I’m usually the only girl on the road too, so when I’m doing my make-up it’s my private time.”
